The tequila industry is solidifying its international prestige with the awarding of the official “Hecho en México” distinction to 23 tequila companies, a recognition granted by the Ministry of Economy in partnership with the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). This certification covers 81 brands of the emblematic beverage, backing its origin, sustainability, and the highest quality standards.

With this addition, the cumulative total rises to over 80 firms and 249 labels backed by the nation’s brand. During the award ceremony, officials highlighted that the distinction pays tribute to Mexican talent and shields the spirit’s competitiveness abroad. Likewise, federal authorities emphasized that the measure increases national added value and strengthens local supply chains in the face of the current geopolitical climate.

This strategic alliance between the CRT and the federal government not only reinforces the protection of the country’s first Denominación de Origen (Appellation of Origin) in nearly 60 global markets, but also cements tequila as Mexico’s most iconic agro-industrial and cultural ambassador.
