In a showcase that fuses art, collective memory, and territory, Loco Tequila and renowned photographer Santiago Arau inaugurated the exhibition “Canchas” at Casa Pedregal. This exhibition reinterprets the space of play, connecting the ancestral Mesoamerican ballgame with contemporary football as symbols of Mexican identity.
Through his disruptive aerial perspective, Arau documents hidden canchas (fields and courts) across Mexico’s deserts, jungles, and mountains. A standout piece was captured in El Arenal, Jalisco, where Loco Tequila’s agave fields—designed following the concentric circular geometry of Guachimontones—frame a sports field, transforming the agricultural landscape into a piece of living art.
“This project embodies the audacity of intervening in the territory while respecting its mysticism.” — Alberto Navarro, Brand Director
Arau reinforced this sentiment, noting that marking out a space to play remains an inherited ritual that shapes the national identity.
Accompanied by a sensory experience featuring different expressions of Loco Tequila, the exhibition will remain open to the public for three months at Tetetlán, Mexico City, establishing itself as an essential visual narrative on the geometry and culture of our country.
