Mexico’s flagship spirit continues to break international records. Between 2023 and 2025, tequila exports reached a record cumulative total of $11.697 billion USD, registering an Average Annual Growth Rate of 8.5% in commercial value since 2020, according to official figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER).

The close of 2025 marked a milestone with the shipment of 397.1 million liters abroad, driven by solid demand in key destinations such as the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Spain. This positive momentum has remained strong through 2026, with 126.5 million liters sold in the first four months of the year alone.

The dynamism of this Aztec spirit is a response not only to its rigorous production process and the protection of its Denominación de Origen, but also to its competitive position within the international regulatory framework, as it remains free of tariff barriers in the US market.

Alongside this commercial success, the 34,658 hectares of the Paisaje Agavero (Agave Landscape) —a UNESCO World Heritage site— reaffirm tequila as an economic, cultural, and identity-driving engine that continues to conquer the most demanding bars across all five continents.
